My favorite mess!

I live and turn in my shop in Utah. I always liked working with wood even as a boy. I owned a lathe for many year but like many fathers never found time to get serious about the craft. Then as I started to become an empty-nester, I broke my old sears lathe out of storage and started turning. Well it was actually more like SCRAPING!

The reason I like turning is that it demands the convergence of engineering, chemistry, biology, business, planning, handwork and artisan. I am still working on the ART part. I find that it is very hard to get the engineer to let the artist emerge.

I turn because it is interesting, relaxing while still being intellectually fascinating.

I created this site so that I could share what I learn when I learn it. Oh ya, I can make a few $ to keep my habit funded. I also wanted to experience the thrill of communicating and transacting on the web within a global community.
